Fusarenon X is a Fusarium type B trichothecene mycotoxin. In vitro, this compound displays significant genotoxic and cytotoxic activity, increasing DNA strand breaks. In vivo, fusarenon X induces an anorectic response resulting in food refusal. This mycotoxin was initially produced by mycoplasma in barley, maize, oats, and other livestock feed grains.
