Description
U-83836E is an antioxidant which inhibits iron-dependent lipid peroxidation in rat brain with an IC50 value of 0.6 µM.1 This free radical scavenger has potent neuroprotective effects against ischemic injury and diabetic neuropathy.1,2 However at higher doses, U-83836E is highly cytotoxic. It reduces viability of rat brain endothelial cells (RBE4) with an IC50 value of 0.032 mM.3
