Prostaglandin E synthase-2 (microsomal) (mPGES-2) was recently identified as a second membrane-associated PGE2 producing enzyme.1,2 Unlike mPGES-1, mPGES-2 does not require glutathione for catalytic activity and is activated in the presence of a broad range of reducing agents. Northern blotting suggests this enzyme is found in high quantity in heart, brain, skeletal muscle, and kidney. Cayman Chemical’s mPGES-2 polyclonal antibody can be used for Western blot analysis for mPGES-2 on samples from a variety of species including human, mouse, sheep, cow, and monkey. Use 1:1,000 dilution for formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues. The antibody does not react with mPGES-1 or cytosolic PGES. Other applications for use of this antibody have not yet been tested.
